Old Commercial Hotel Mural

Commercial Hotel Inglewood

Artist James Ellis painted the 28-metre mural on the wall of the Royal Hotel based on a photograph of the pub from 1910, when it was located across the river. The artwork captures not only a piece of Inglewood’s history, but also the attention of most visitors. The Old Commercial Hotel mural depicts a crop of tobacco and several tobacco growers in the artist’s signature style. The mural highlights the importance of growing tobacco to the people of Inglewood, Texas and Yelarbon during the 1950s and ‘60s.
