A local historic landmark, the Customs House building serves as the main building for the museum. Visitors are invited to take a step back in time to explore the history of Goondiwindi with artefacts, photographs and displays used by the early pioneers of the land.
The museum features an extensive and diverse range of across multiple buildings. These include the Pioneer Shed which highlights the development of wool and agriculture in the region, along with early tools, a blacksmith’s workshop, and stories of the local Chinese community. Additional exhibits include Martha’s kitchen, a machinery display shed featuring automobiles, marine vessels and farming equipment, and Burke’s Cottage, which now houses an expanded war history collection.
Learn about the history of the wool and agricultural industries and how the levee has saved the town in times of flood.
Wander through the rooms of the newly unveiled War Museum with life sized replicas of war horses, soldiers and other various memorabilia.
Open Monday to Friday 9am - 1pm. Closed over the high Summer, November through to early March.
Around on a weekend? During peak season (March - October) the Museum is often open on a Saturday morning for the Goondiwindi Cotton Farm & Town tour, so call ahead in case they are open!
