When you’re a town that straddles the border of Queensland and New South Wales, it would be remiss not to have a border bridge to connect the two. Take a wander or drive across, thinking back to its history. The first iteration of the bridge was wooden and constructed in 1879 and withstood the floods of 1890. The bridge was later reconstructed to the current historic Border Bridge (MacIntyre Bridge) that we know today – made of steel, and reconstructed in 1914. It remains a landmark and for good reason.
