Where to shop in Goondiwindi
Published on 28 October 2024
Goondiwindi is renowned for its quality retail – with visitors from cities often coming to us with their shopping budgets over their own big centres. If it’s classic country style and friendly service you’re after, you’re in the right place.
Head into the heart of the CBD, taking in our main street - Marshall Street - Bowen Lane and Herbert Street - , and enjoy an open-air shopping experience. Parking is easy and everything is within walking distance – not to mention the cafes, restaurants and pubs should you need to refuel in the process.
Shop local, proudly knowing you’re supporting locally owned businesses and the people who call Goondiwindi home.
For fashion lovers
No need for a shopping list, take your time browsing our fashion stores from the established Aitches Boutique and Suede Shoes to the more recently opened Sterling Belle. Momera offers the latest designs, while Meld Lifestyle and George and May Boutique offer both fashion and homewares. Take a stroll along Herbert Street to visit Goondiwindi Cotton for classic and quality pieces that are sure to become wardrobe staples for years to come.
For homewares, furniture and gifts
For curated homewares, furniture and gifts pop into Nutmeg Home to find classic kitchenware or a piece of local art, or Harry and Kit in Bowen Lane for pieces both sourced from across the globe to made right in our backyard, like local Jersey Candles – scents like Australian Bush and Crushed Lime and Sea Salt might even become reminders of your time ‘out west’. Bishops Newsagency is a surprising treasure trove of ceramics, fun picnicware and gifts you’d love to give yourself while Blue Rose Designs is a florist, hairdresser and gift store in one, filled with original gifts and florals both fresh and dried that you can take home with you.
For the little fashionistas
Deck the kids out on Marshall Street – from labels like Country Road and Thomas Cook at Arthur Schofield & Co to high quality babywear, hats and footwear at Little Tots Treasures – who also stock beautiful children’s books, toys and games. The little ones will leave Goondiwindi looking their best and ready for adventure.
For a second wind
You’ll need a mid-shop pit stop to refuel and recharge so head to Laurenz Café for a strawberry matcha and slice of black forest cheesecake or if a classic espresso is more your style – Kitsch serves up a beautiful coffee and has lots of yummy gluten free options available. Both options have on-street seating so you can soak up the community spirit that comes alive particularly on a Saturday morning on Marshall Street!
For country-wear
Our department store, Arthur Schofield & Co, and Gundy Clothing both stock fashion and workwear and will fit you for a pair of iconic RM Williams boots or an Akubra hat.
For the foodies
Foodies love The Larder Market for their selection of gourmet produce. From local honey or maple mustard dressing to an amazing assortment of chilli oils and boutique sparkling mixers, you’ll easily while away the time inside this speciality store. Our tip - grab all you need to make a cheeseboard or the pre-prepared lasagne is a local favourite, paired with a freshly made gourmet salad from their sister-store, The Larder. The Visitor Information Centre in the Civic Centre also stocks local honey, lavender products from Leven K Farm and organic Coolmunda Olive products both located just east of us in Inglewood.
For the thrifters
If you’re searching for a pre-loved bargain, we also have a selection of Charity and Op Shops in town.
For everything else
For everything else we have two pharmacies, a newsagency, jeweller, electrical appliance stores, Foodworks, Coles, KHub and Mitre 10 – all within the CBD.
You should also get along to the ‘Sunday in Gundy’ Markets held in the Town Park on the last Sunday of each month and offering local produce including plants, ice-cream and handmade jewellery.
Just remember - most of the CBD closes from midday on Saturday, with selected stores and café’s open Sunday mornings. If you find yourself in town outside trading hours, this article covering things to see and do on the weekend will keep you out of trouble.
