There’s nothing better than getting the guys together for a weekend of golf, good food and cold beers… and guess what, Gundy has it all.

Famous for being the ‘centre of the universe’ and with 5 highways all leading you here – it’s the perfect place to declare it “halfway” and meet the guys for a weekend of good old fashioned country fun!  Pack the golf clubs or hook the boat on - and we guarantee you will have zero regrets!

Here’s our local intel and itinerary for a cracking weekend with the boys...

40 on Marshall Goondiwindi

Friday Arvo:
Check into 40 on Marshall which is the newest accommodation option in town (pictured at left) that is conveniently connected to the Royal Hotel.  If convenience is what sets your heart on fire – this is the place you want to be!  Located in the heart of the CBD with free WIFI and secure gated parking, plus interconnecting doors from your accommodation to the bistro and bar.  You are literally only a few steps away from settling in for the arvo of a flutter on the ponies, cold beers, good company and if you’re lucky, the Friday meat raffle!

Saturday:
Grab breakfast next door at Batesy’s Bakery with a bacon & egg burger or head up the main street for numerous options for a great coffee like Kitsch, The Larder, Alfie’s and Laurenz.

It’s time to show the boys your golf swing and head out to ‘The Golfy’ for 18 holes of golf - pictured above.  With fairways smooth and easy to play on while winding through natural watercourses, everyone, no matter their skill level, can enjoy themselves! After your game, head to the clubhouse with the coldest beer in town while overlooking the green.

Finish the day off with a cold ale and woodfired pizza from Gundy’s very own brewery, ‘Border Brewing’ (pictured below).  Situated just over the road from 40 on Marshall, enjoy a chilled afternoon in this epic space experiencing local produce and great company.

Sunday:
Up early and feeling fresh? Grab your rod and reel and settle onto the banks of the Macintyre River for an hour or two, better yet catch the sunrise while you try your luck at catching a good looking local - fish that is!

Fuel up before you head off - there’s a few spots in town that open for a Sunday breakfast, and you can’t go wrong with a Brekky Burger from the OK Milk Bar or the Eggs Bene at Gather 4390.

Safe travels home lads, and we can’t wait to have you back again soon!  Remember what happens in Gundy, stays in Gundy!

Other local tips:
Elevate your weekend and team it up with a weekend where there’s a home game of footy, whether that be league, union or AFL.  Locals will argue that an afternoon at a home game is quite possibly better than being at Suncorp! Better yet time it for any of the codes Ladies Day events for an even bigger event and crowd.

If you are a water sport enthusiast, Gundy is situated on the banks of the mighty Macintyre and boasts the Natural Heritage & Water Park too; which comes alive over the summer months with skiing, wakeboarding and tubing to cool off and have fun. Hook the boat on and squeeze in a bit of action while you're here.
