Easter is just around the corner and if you’re tossing up whether to visit our region, or for our locals deciding to stay closer to home – the region is buzzing with things to do - or plenty of places to visit to simply unwind.
Here are our top tips for what’s on this Easter break:
Goat Rock Camping
If you feel like hooking up the caravan and not travelling far [we see you fuel prices!] – Goat Roat at Texas is open all Easter Weekend with multiple different events to enjoy. Grab a cuppa from the café which is open Friday and Saturday, head down to the ‘Shindig at the Shed’ on Saturday evening or enjoy brunch on Easter Sunday. Goondiwindi Cotton Tour
We are yet to meet a traveller who hasn’t loved their morning on the Goondiwindi Cotton Tour. With a visit to a working cotton farm & shed, cotton gin, Gunsynd Statue, Customs House Museum and even the Nungwai Sculpture Art – the tour is filled with information, history and most importantly, FUN! A day in Texas, Queensland!
A day or better yet a weekend in Texas is the ultimate way to escape the big smoke and enjoy free camping on the Dumaresq River. The fabulous Texas Rabbit Works Museum will be open on Easter Saturday for you to enjoy the interactive displays and deep dive into the history of ‘rabbiting’. You can also enjoy a meal at Stockman Hotel for their Easter Saturday festivities with live music too!

Border Brewing
Follow the smell of freshly woodfired pizza along the main street of Goondiwindi until you hit our first-ever brewery ‘Border Brewing’. With vibes high, there’s no better way to enjoy an extra-long weekend than a pint of locally brewed ale and a delicious pizza with friends. Be sure to check their opening hours via their Instagram account.
Gundy Markets
Take a stroll through the Town Park in Goondiwindi on Easter Sunday from 8am – 12noon and enjoy the stalls at Gundy Markets. From local wares to plants and great food and coffee options, you can enjoy both the sunshine and a spot of shopping.
Most other local pubs, restaurants and shops will be open Easter Saturday, at their own discretion – so get out into the region and make some serious memories this Easter! Be safe and have fun!
